The AAUW Mission is to advance equity for all women and girls through
advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. "Over the past years we have been developing a worldwide web site that we hope will be of interest to teachers and students in the U.S. Women's History. The site is "Women and Social Movements in the United States, 1600-2000" and consists of editorial projects of primary documents that speak to the history of women in reform movements in the U.S. We now have a sizeable body of documents along with some graphics, links to other educational sites in women's history, and a search engine that makes material on the site quite accessible." It's a great resource!
Keeping a focus on education, the Universities and School Systems resource page offers links to educational references like the Florida Department of Education, to Florida local county public and private school systems, to Florida Universities, and to a world-wide College and University search link.
Actively addressing public policy issues is a key element of the Association's strategic plan. The
Florida Web Pages resource page includes state government links, as well as Florida business and commerce and recreation sites.
The Florida Local Counties and Communities resource page lists over 300 links to Florida AAUW branch communities across the state. The page is organized by branch locations, traveling from northern Florida to Key West.
The focus on Florida public policy issues expands to national and political issues on the
US Government resource page. Links to federal and legislative sites, as well as national political parties are included.
Media Web Pages include television and print media resources on both a national and state level.
Again, the diversity of interests associated with AAUW is reflected in these websites devoted to various women's issues. Topics include : women's history, professional organizations, advocacy organizations such as the League of Woman Voters and the National Organization for Women, medical, anti-violence, reproductive choice, career, biographical, women-in-the-military and women's genealogy sites.
